My Little Greek Girl

This past weekend was our local Greek Festival. Being that I am Greek we had to go. We haven't been the last 2 years so this year was a must. Honestly there isn't too much to do there other than eat. They have a ton of food and all of it is amazing. I didn't get many pictures. It was raining that morning so not many people ventured out to the festival that afternoon. Plus when we left it had started raining again. Everything is in doors or under tents so we stayed dry none the less.

The Hubs and I both got Gyros this year and then split a Souvlaki on a stick. Belle had a hot dog. I wasn't sure what she was going to eat so we decided on just a hot dog for her. She had some of my Gyro which she ate. We gave her some pork which she didn't like at all. She must prefer mine because she eats pork at home. Before we left we grabbed some homemade baked goods. Of course I needed to get some Baklava since I am too lazy to make it.

In one of the shops there was some clothing right from Greece. There were a couple beautiful toddler dresses but I did not end up getting one. Hopefully next year. Every year this festival makes me desire to go to Greece grow that much deeper. Some day.

Hello June!!!!

The Hubs had the computer last night (fixing my photoshop) and this morning our internet wasn't working so I was not able to upload my pictures for Wordless Wednesday. And I had some cute ones to post. So instead I am going to write about how it is June 1st. And that means that summer is seriously right around the corner.

With Memorial Day behind us we now start our nonstop go go go weekends of summer. This weekend is basically the start of Festivals here. The Hellenic festival kicks off festival season. We will be headed to Greek Fest on Saturday followed by a Margaritaville party that night. Then we have the Strawberry Festival the following weekend (not sure if we're going yet).

Then The Hubs and I have an out of town wedding. It's a Sunday wedding but since it is about six hours from here we are going to leave Saturday morning. We will stop in Hershey PA on Saturday and hit up the park or factory. Then Sunday we will drive the last half hour to the wedding. We most likely won't be home until Monday afternoon. Three days away from my girl. I am going to miss her like crazy.

The last weekend in June we have a couple things going on that we haven't completely decided on yet. Saturday is my work family picnic at a local amusement park. It's a tiny park but Belle would be the right age for most of the rides. And it is a crazy discounted price that includes food. Also we are thinking of going to Mumford or what is called now Genesee County Village. Basically it is a historic village and museum. I haven't been since I was a kid and The Hubs and I have been talking about going for years. The last weekend in June is the War of 1812 Encampment which is something The Hubs would love to go to.

Then we are into July, which the firs this is 4th of July and so on. Throw in my random vacation days I have scheduled here and there and before we know it, it will be August. Or time for our Disney trip. I am in no way wishing away summer. I just can't wait for our vacation!!!! Plus we have some big plans at the end of summer and secretly, I can't wait to get there.

Belle and the Great Pumpkin!

This past weekend was beautiful. I have to say that it was probably our "Indian Summer". It was in the 70's, sun was out, and it was  absolutely beautiful. The keaves were at their peak here. I wish I was able to get some pictures of the trees. It was the perfect weekend to spend it doing fall family festivies. On Saturday Belle and I took a walk over to the community center in our neighborhood with her BFF across the street.

Have I ever told you about her BFF? Well our neighbors across the street had a baby girl the day before Belle was born. They are a day apart, not even. More like 14 hours apart. Instant best friends!

Any ways we walked up there on Saturday. Belle and her BFF were able to pet some goats and sheep. They were still to young to do anything else there. Belle was a little stand offish with the animals at first. I had her pet them and she was pretty good. Then my friend bought a cup of food to feed them. They all came over then. Belle was good until the kept pushing there heads at us. Belle had enough and started pushing the animals away. So that was it for the animals.

On Sunday The Hubs was off so after Belle's nap we packed up and headed to the large pumpkin farm in our area. There are rides, food, petting zoos, haunted houses, hay rides, shows, and of course pumpkins. Each weekend is a special event. This past weekend was the Pumpkin Olympics. Belle petted some goats again and got to get up close to a camel. She did really well with the goats today and even knew what to do. She reached to pet them all on her own.

We went into one of the kiddie haunted houses. Belle just sat in the stroller and took everything in. It really wasn't scary at all. Just displays of things. No people jumping out at you. We took her through the hay maze. We wanted to go on the hay ride but the line was too long and not moving. So we watched the pumpkin launcher. I should have taken a picture. They have a large launcher that looks like a canon that was shooting pumpkins into a field.

We then walked over to the pumpkins. This farm doesn't have an actual pumpkin patch but a ton of pumpkins. We found a quiet spot with no kids running around and were able to get some pictures of Belle. Of course she was facing the sun so the pictures aren't that great and I was only able to get one picture of her actually looking at the camera. For a one year old she is excellent at ignoring mommy already!

We then found some large pumpkins. Belle was tiny next to them. But of course she didn't want to cooperate on getting her picture next to them. Maybe if it wasn't so busy we could have taken our time getting pictures. It was packed.

On Monday we went to get our pumpkins from our normal place. There is a family owned Farmer's Market in our area that we go to every year. We get great pumpkins for pretty cheap and the owners are uber friendly. We will continue to go there. I also picked up some gourds as well.

Mommy, Daddy, and Belle all got pumpkins. The one right in front of Belle in the picture above is her first pumpkin ever! So cute. We picked up a couple small ones as well.

It was a great fall weekend. I am glad that we decided to fight the crowds and go to the pumpkin farm on Sunday as it rained all day on Monday. I am glad that we had our beautiful Indian Summer weekend this past weekend as The Hubs is working all next weekend. I am so glad to have fall traditions that we have introduced Belle to. It doesn't get any better then the fall!

Autumn! Best Time of the Year!

I love fall. It is by far my favorite season. I love everything about it. The cooler weather, sweaters and jeans, socks and sneakers, cinnamon, pumpkins, apples, the smell of fall, the leaves changing, Halloween, and all the fall events that take place.

As sad as I am to see the summer end, because in this area it really is to short, I am just as happy to see fall come. I am already thinking of what fall events were going to take Belle too. We can take Belle to get pumpkins this year and I want to take her on a hay ride. Were going to take her trick or treating to a couple of neighbors and then do the family tour.

I love fall clothing. Your warm and comfy, but still not to warm. And honestly after the hot summer we had, the cooler fall weather is very welcomed. I love the smell of fall candles burning through out the house.

We are very lucky to be able to see the leaves change colors in this area. It's so beautiful!

Our wedding anniversary is in the fall, Belle's birthday is in the fall, and of course my birthday is in the late fall.

I usually wait until the end of September to pull out the fall decor, but with the fall weather I just can't wait. My summer wreath and the summer decor feels out of place now.

It doesn't get any better then this time of year! I am sure I will have plenty of pictures to post of Belle enjoying her first autumn. (ok so technically she experienced fall last year, but she was born in October, so this is kinda her first!)
