Valentine's Day Crafts
We made a couple of Valentine’s Day crafts over the weekend. Saturday night was just Belle and I and she begged me from the time she got up from nap until we were done with dinner to make a craft. I guess she really missed our craft time.
Our first craft was this cute little heart owl. To make him we used a small paper plate as his body. I cut out 2 hearts, one from purple paper and the other from pink making the pink a little bit smaller than the purple heart. I then cut out a set of wings from purple paper. Belle’s current favorite color is purple. So everything is purple right now.
We started with gluing the pink heart onto the purple heart. Then we glued on the wings to each side of the paper plate. Once the wings were stuck down well we glued our hearts to the top of the plate for our owls head.
Belle then added some googly eyes and foam heart stickers for our owl’s feet. She then drew on a smile and nose with a purple crayon.
She loved him and couldn’t wait to hang him up on her art wall.
Belle begged me to paint as well. So I drew a heart onto white construction paper and gave her some paint. Purple of course. Once the heart was dry we cut it out and I wrote a conversation heart phrase onto it. I gave Belle a couple different phrases and she picked Cutie Pie.

Catching Up
We haven’t been doing too much in our house the last few weeks. Belle was sick with a nasty cold that had her spiking a fever for two days. Then I came down with it days later and last week The Hubs and I were battling sore throats.
Because of the nasty germs going around our house Belle and I never got make all the cute snow animal crafts I had found nor have we barely done anything for Valentine’s Day. Last night I sat down with Belle and we made three different things. A cute heart guy, a Valentine for daddy and we painted some hearts that we are going to hang from the ceiling in her playroom tonight.
We have an open house this week at The Bug for summer camp and early enrollment for preschool. Yup, preschool. And we actually have to pay attention to these notices this year. Belle will be starting preschool this fall. I talked with the director since I wasn’t sure if we had to enroll her or if she would move up when she turns three. We do indeed need to register from preschool and she will start preschool in September on the first day of school. Since her birthday is so early in October they are just going to have her start right away.
My baby is starting preschool in September. When did this happen? When did my baby grow up? I cannot believe we are talking about preschool already.
Hopefully Belle and I can get back on track with all of our fun activities at home. This week starts two weeks of Dinosaurs. We won’t start dinosaurs at home until Wednesday. I want to celebrate Valentine’s Day with her at home. I have some fun activities planned and even a field trip to our science museum to see the dinosaurs there. Plus a dino sensory bin and I am in the middle of making Belle a dino tail. She picked out the colors pink and green and well since I don’t have a sewing machine nor do I even know how to use one I am sewing this all by hand. So it’s taking forever. But hopefully will be finished up by the end of the week.
I think we may even have a Dinosaur Stomp Party to end our dinosaur unit.
The Hubs took me out to dinner on Saturday for Valentine’s day. My mom graciously took Belle overnight and we ended up having a great time out with friends. We decided on a local place called Grover’s that is known for their burgers. In fact Guy Fieri featured it on Diner’s Drive Ins and Dives. We ended up sitting at the table right under his signature. The food is amazing and the burgers are huge. I can’t even eat half of one. And if you want a table show up early, especially on a Saturday night. Luckily we knew this and were able to miss the crowds. When we were walking on it was packed. At the end of the night The Hubs stopped at Target and picked up Breaking Dawn. We finished our night on the couch watching Breaking Dawn. Perfect end to a great night out.

Valentine's Sensory Tub
Last week I put together Belle’s new Sensory Tub. I found some cute Valentine stuff at Target and Hobby Lobby and I couldn’t wait to put this one together.
In the Target dollar bins I found cute little plastic hearts in pink, purple, and red. Also red X’s and O’s. The boxes these came in were called table scatter. The bins had little plastic hearts that were kind of like ornaments, I grabbed a package of those too. I also found in the bins heart shaped scoops, these are perfect for scooping and sorting all of our fun stuff. Back by the Valentine’s I found a bag of red, pink, and purple rubber balls. The balls are Belle’s favorite to play with.
At Hobby Lobby I found porcupine balls and some pink sparkle pom poms. At this point I felt like I had a ton of stuff so I stopped picking stuff up. I had 4 boxes of the table scatter and honestly could have done with one or two more boxes. When I was pulling all the stuff out I also found a leftover box of red rose petals from our wedding so I threw those in too.
I left in the play spoons and the play soup ladle for Belle to use to scoop stuff up. So far I think this one is Belle’s favorite. She spends a good half hour to 45 minutes playing in this. We usually sort the balls by color or pull out matching items like all the rubber balls, all the pom poms, all the porcupine balls. Or she likes to pull everything out and put it in daddy’s lap.
Belle loves this one but sadly we only have a short time left before we switch it out. Next week we start on two weeks of Dinosaur fun! On Tuesday (Valentine’s Day) I will switch out the Sensory Tub.
