Our Best of 2010

In honor of New Years I thought I would do a quick post about our family's best moments this year. This past year was filled with first for us. It was Belle's first year and our first year as a family, our best memories were some of Belle's firsts.
I am going in order as they happened so no one memory is better then the next.

Telethon weekend in March. Every year for the past 10 years or so my father has volunteered his time to help with our local Variety Club tent put on their yearly telethon in support of our local Children's Hospital. As the years went on my began volunteering, my brother, me and then The Hubs. This past year was the first year I did not volunteer with having an almost 6 month old. Belle and I did stay at the hotel with The Hubs which made this Belle's first hotel stay. I took Belle to the pool one night where she had her first taste of swimming. I helped as best I could in the Transportation room and Belle even made it on TV at the end of the telethon.

Belle's Baptism. This was such a proud moment for not only The Hubs and I but for my parents as well. I am proud that my daughter has been baptised and is recognized by the Church. That she will follow in my foot steps in faith. And that in 4 day's notice we can throw a small party together.

4th of July. In so many ways this was the perfect day. This is going to sound cheesey, but it was one of those days that I imagined having a family would be like. We spent the day just the three of us until later in the evening. We were up early so we took Belle to the cute baby contest. It was free and something fun to do. Not sure if we will do it again next year. We hung around at home taking in the day off. Walked up to the center of town and found great seats for the parade. Of course it was one of the hottest days of the summer. After the parade we went to a friends house for a 4th of July picnic and had a wonderful evening with friends. It was a wonderful day that I will remember forever.

Summer 2010. There is so much that goes on in the summer here. We really only have three good months of summer so there is so much jam packed into those three months. Every weekend there is something to do. There are walks to be taken, swimming to be swum (is swum even a word??) swings to be swung and campfires to be sat at. Our summer was fantastic and I long for the summer days that are to come.

Darien Lake. The Hubs and I took a day off from work in August and sent Belle to The Bug. We had an entire day just the two of us, so we went to the local amusement park. We had so much fun since it had been a few years. We rode our favorite rides, played in the new wave pool, and sat up close and personal with a 500 pound sea lion, who I may or may not have received a kiss from.

County Fair. It is a tradition to go to our local county fair every year. Now traditionally county fairs are small. And to be honest with you I never knew the county fairs were tiny and basically just the animals for show. We have one of the largest county fairs in the country. Two mid ways, aisles and aisles of games, more food then you can think of, buildings to explore, and more animals then a zoo, including Llamas. The county fair is typically a full day event if you want to see everything. And the midways you don't even think of until it gets dark. We took a Saturday and spent the entire day there. Belle was an angel and took everything in while The Hubs and I took in the shows and explored the buildings.

Belle's First Birthday. Her party was the day before but how could this not be one of our best moments. Our baby girl turned a year old. How quickly that year came, and has now gone. We are talking about a walking, babbling 15 month old now. Her party was amazing and we were blessed by our family and friends who love to spoil our little girl.

Pumpkin Farm. We took Belle to her first Pumpkin farm this year. Of course it was 70 the day we went so it was packed. Again, we don't do anything small in this area. One of the local pumpkin farms in our area is huge. With more pumpkins you can think of, rides, food, and tons of activities. We didn't do much since it was so busy. We did get pictures of her next to the giant pumpkin and sitting amongst the thousands of pumpkins. We didn't get our pumpkins from here either. We have a local farmers market near our house that we go to each year.

Halloween 2010. This wasn't Belle's first Halloween but it was her first year going Trick or Treating. We had so much fun taking her from house to house with her little basket. The oohs and aahs over our little Minnie Mouse. Next year she will be able to walk from house to house and possibly go with her BFF across the street.

Strong Museum of Play. We took Belle to the Strong Museum of Play a couple of weeks ago and it was one of the best things we did this year. We went on a Monday while all the kids were still in school. Belle was able to get out of the stroller and walk at her own pace. She was able to play with out being in the way or being pushed out of the way. And The Hubs and I had a blast in the Reading Adventures room.

Belle's First time in the snow. We had a huge snow storm the first week of December. We ended up with over 4 feet of snow, which we still have about 2 feet since its been so cold it's not melting. The Hubs went out to start working on the 24 hours of snow that fell and we couldn't get to before it became a mess. After Belle was done eating dinner I bundled her up in her new snow suit and took her outside. She wasn't to sure of it. This was her first time sitting in it. But I had to take the traditional shots of Belle in all that snow!

Christmas 2010. Since I haven't written about Christmas yet I'm not going to spill to much and only going to give you one picture. But we had a wonderful Christmas with family who spoiled our girl beyond belife this year.

This is the last post for 2010. I will be back in 2011 with our Christmas pictures, I promise! To all my readers, thank you so much for your support.
